Storyteller, Educator, Trainer

MEET DEV CUNY
Dev uses the art of storytelling to advocate for a world where every young person is safe and loved. They have done so by sharing their own story at conferences, in documentaries, and through many media outlets including Huffington Post, The Guardian, VICE, a preview for the Focus Features film, Boy Erased, and as part of TEDx.
Their work to support young people include serving on the advisory committees for the Born Perfect Campaign to End Conversion Therapy and Covenant House, Oakland. Dev has also spent years working in education including Oakland Unified School District, Resilience in School Environments, and Unconditional Education helping schools build a culture that is trauma-informed, healing-centered, and rooted in equitable policies and practices.
In addition to their work with young people, Dev provides trainings and workshops that focus on healing spiritual and religious trauma using restorative practices as a primary healing modality. Dev is also trained in chaplaincy, pastoral counseling, and preaching, serving as the interim pastor for Oak Life Church in 2021, as well as providing emotional and spiritual support as a hospital, jail, and hospice chaplain.
